In today’s world, we see a growing moral decline in society. People lie, cheat, disrespect elders, ignore values, and run after fame, money, and selfish goals. Sadly, even the younger generation is affected. They often lack discipline, good character, and Islamic manners. The question is: Why is this happening? And what can we do about it?

Islam teaches us that good character (Akhlaq) is the core of a successful society. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:

“I have been sent to perfect good character.”
– (Sahih Al-Bukhari)

This shows that Islam gives the highest importance to morals. When people leave Islamic teachings, society begins to fall apart. And two of the most important people who shape the morals of any child are parents and teachers.

Role of Parents in Character Building

Parents are a child’s first school. The way a mother talks, the way a father acts β€” all these shape a child’s behavior. Islam teaches parents to raise children with love, care, and proper Islamic guidance.

  • Teach children about truthfulness, honesty, kindness, and prayer (Salah).
  • Show them good behavior through your own actions. Children learn more from what they see than what they hear.
  • Limit screen time, especially harmful content on TikTok, YouTube, and dramas.
  • Make Dua for them regularly, as the Prophet (PBUH) said, a parent’s dua is accepted.

Role of Teachers in Moral Guidance

Teachers are like second parents. In Islam, a teacher has great respect, even more than a king. A teacher’s attitude, words, and behavior influence the entire future of a student.

  • Teach not just subjects, but also Islamic manners (Adab).
  • Start class with Dua, Hadith, or a moral story.
  • Correct wrong behavior gently and with wisdom, like Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) used to do.
  • Be role models β€” honest, punctual, fair, and kind.

How Islam Combats Moral Decline

When society loses Akhlaq, crime, corruption, and injustice rise. Islam gives solutions:

  • Quran and Hadith as guides for all age groups.
  • Five daily prayers (Salah) to connect with Allah and stay away from wrong.
  • Fasting to learn patience and self-control.
  • Charity (Zakat/Sadaqah) to purify the heart.
  • Accountability in the Hereafter, which reminds us to stay righteous.

Conclusion

Moral decline is a serious danger to any nation. If we want to fix our society, we must begin with homes and schools. Parents and teachers, by following the teachings of Islam, can bring back the lost light of character and respect. A child raised with Islamic morals becomes a blessing for the whole society.

Let’s not wait for others to change. Let’s start from our own homes, schools, and hearts.
